The world’s refugees can’t all expect the Rahaf Mohammed treatment

Rahaf Mohammed Alqunun, the Saudi teen who garnered international media attention after fleeing alleged abuse by her family, landed in Canada recently and was taken into the welcoming arms of Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland. Freeland got a wonderful photo op with the teen who arrived wearing a hoodie emblazoned with “Canada.”

Mohammed (she has now dropped her last name of Alqunun) had tweeted that she feared for her life for asserting her independence by doing such things as cutting her hair and removing her hijab. She claimed she was locked in her room for six months for her disobedience and faced death for leaving Islam. She also claimed she was assaulted by her brother.
